Last week, we facilitated a 3-day workshop as part of the project “Sv. Nikole Resilience Lab”, dedicated to confirming the shared vision for climate resilience and defining concrete pathways for the future of Sveti Nikole.
Over the course of the workshop, municipal employees and members of the city council engaged in an intensive process of reflection and co-creation. Together, they analyzed future climate scenarios, identified key signals and indicators, and envisioned how Sveti Nikole can evolve into a resilient community by 2035.
Through interactive exercises such as back-casting and theory of change, participants developed practical strategies that respond to local priorities:
- Sustainable infrastructure and modernization of public services.
- Energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
- Active citizen engagement in decision-making and community life.
- Long-term well-being through inclusive services for children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups.
The pathways co-created during this workshop represent an important milestone in Sveti Nikole’s resilience journey. They provide a structured roadmap for translating aspirations into action, ensuring that the city is better prepared to respond to climate challenges in the years ahead.
The “Sv. Nikole Resilience Lab” is coordinated by the Municipality of Sveti Nikole, in partnership with SmartUp – Social Innovation Lab, and is funded through the Pathways2Resilience programme by EIT Climate-KIC.
