On November 14, our representatives Nikolco Gosev and Milena Ignjatova met up with the Minister of Education and Science Professor Dr. Vesna Janevska to discuss the digitalization of the educational process and the professional development of teachers within the EmpoweED project.
The process of self-evaluation for teachers is often complex and due to a lack of understanding of required competencies, many teachers avoid self-evaluation and instead copy plans from others. This undermines the development of essential skills, directly impacting the quality of education and students’ success.
Our goal within this project is to support teachers and ensure that their professional development is both relevant and meaningful. To achieve this, we will address the challenge through two innovative approaches:
- Digital Self-Evaluation Tool: This tool will guide teachers step-by-step through the self-evaluation process, providing clear explanations for each competency. It will automatically calculate results, saving time and minimizing errors, as well as generating a personalized professional development plan for the teachers.
- Public Database on Teachers’ Professional Development Needs: The database will provide valuable and relevant insights to the appropriate institutions, helping them create more targeted and effective professional development programs for teachers.
The tool will be hosted on EduLab – Portal for Professional Development, which is a platform designed for teachers’ professional development and to help them build upon their existing skills and knowledge. EduLab serves as a comprehensive center, offering digital resources that are accessible anytime, anywhere. It is designed to support the personal and professional growth of teachers, promoting continuous learning and development.
