Grants of $1,000 to $5,000 available for climate projects led by young people aged 15 to 24.
The Municipality of Sveti Nikole, with local support from SmartUp – Social Innovation Lab, has launched a call for youth-led climate projects under Bloomberg Philanthropies’ global Youth Climate Action Fund program.
Young people aged 15 to 24 from Sveti Nikole are invited to propose ideas for local climate initiatives and can receive grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to implement them.
The goal is for young people to be directly involved in creating solutions to the climate challenges they face every day in their community—from saving water and electricity and reducing waste, to creating more green spaces, improving public spaces, and strengthening resilience to climate risks.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Sveti Nikole, Dejan Vladev, emphasized that the program opens space for young people to be an active part of the community’s development.
“Young people have the ideas, energy, and determination to make a real change in their community. With this call, we are giving them the opportunity to turn those ideas into real initiatives that will carry out activities of exceptional importance for our community,” said Vladev.
To participate, applicants are required to form a team of at least two young people aged 15 to 24. The young people develop and lead the project idea, while the application must be submitted through a registered partner organization, such as an association (NGO), school, youth club, or public institution.
Ivica Arsov, Youth Officer at the Municipality of Sveti Nikole, emphasized that throughout the application process, young people will have the opportunity to receive practical support in developing their ideas and preparing their applications.
“We do not expect young people to come up with a fully developed project. What matters is that they are interested and motivated to do something for their community. Through an info session and workshops, we will help them develop their ideas in detail, form a team, and prepare an initiative that can be implemented,” said Arsov.
Three sessions will help applicants prepare their proposals:
- September 10 – Info Session, where young people can learn about the eligibility requirements, thematic areas, how to participate, and the support available.
- September 21 – Workshop 1: Developing Project Ideas and Activities, where participants will work on the challenge they want to address by developing an initiative idea and defining specific activities.
- October 5 – Workshop 2: Preparing the Project Application, with hands-on work on the objectives, outcomes, activities, the budget, and other parts of the application.
The call is open until October 15, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
