The Green Cities 2025 event in Málaga was more than a gathering on smart cities — it was a hands-on look at how communities are transforming innovation into practical action.
Over two days at FYCMA, our team — Nikolco Gosev (SmartUp – Social Innovation Lab), together with Ivica Arsov and Ivana Dimitrova from the Municipality of Sveti Nikole — joined over 2,200 professionals, 100+ cities, and 200 companies to exchange knowledge and explore solutions for sustainability, mobility, digital governance, and circular economy.
We heard inspiring examples from Spanish cities like Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and La Zarza, showing how local governments are advancing in areas such as waste management, smart mobility, and digital infrastructure.
Beyond the presentations, the event offered space for direct collaboration — we met and exchanged contacts with companies and institutions offering practical solutions that could support future actions in Sveti Nikole and other municipalities in North Macedonia.
Events like Green Cities remind us that meaningful change happens when local and international actors come together to share experiences, challenges, and ideas for shaping more sustainable and resilient territories.
