Resilience Lab Sveti Nikole & Cetinje - Pathways2Resilience Program
The Pathways2Resilience project is an EU-funded program that supports regional capacity building for climate adaptation across 100 regions, including the municipality of Sveti Nikole (N. Macedonia) and the municipality of Cetinje (Montenegro). The initiative aims to strengthen local abilities to create climate resilience strategies through an 18-month program. The project provides a structured approach, known as the Regional Resilience Journey, which assists regions in developing climate adaptation pathways, innovation agendas, and investment plans that align with the EU’s Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.
Key challenges
The project addresses the need for a systemic approach that goes beyond traditional sectoral planning, emphasizing the importance of regions adopting innovative, cross-cutting strategies for climate resilience.
Many regions face significant challenges in acquiring the technical skills and resources necessary to implement climate adaptation strategies effectively and sustainably. To overcome these challenges, it is essential to engage a diverse set of stakeholders, including local governments, citizen groups, and international experts, in order to develop shared knowledge and best practices that can be applied across different regions.
Expected results
For our commitment to this project and the Municipality of Sveti Nikole (N. Macedonia), we will dedicate time and effort to create:
- A climate resilience strategy.
- A climate resilience action plan.
- A climate resilience investment plan.
For our commitment to this project and the Municipality of Cetinje (Montenegro), we will dedicate time and effort to build capacity in developing innovative climate resilience strategies, including supporting and improving technical skills and collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
The Pathways2Resilience project is more than just a regional capacity-building initiative; it is an opportunity to create long-term, sustainable solutions to the challenges posed by climate change. With its focus on developing localized climate resilience strategies and fostering cross-sector collaboration, the project will support Sveti Nikole, Cetinje, and encourage other municipalities to build a future that is both adaptable and forward-thinking. By aligning local efforts with EU climate goals, this initiative sets the stage for meaningful, scalable change across the region.
