Summary
TED is a nonprofit initiative devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks of almost all topics — from science to business to global issues. Independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world and belief in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. TED combines inspired thinkers — and a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.
A TEDx event is a local gathering where live TED talks and videos previously recorded at TED conferences are shared with the community. Salon events are a unique kind of gathering that TEDx organizers hold which allows a conversation of interesting current challenging topics. At a TEDx salon, attendees watch TED Talks, host expert guests and have informal discussions about the talks they witnessed. Salons re-engage the community and spark discussion on issues of interest to the local community. A critical element of salon is lively discussions, allowing attendees to actively participate in the event. These events bring attendees together in more intimate spaces (usually around 30 attendees), and with more chances to get to know and exchange ideas with each other.
About TEDxSkopje
TEDxSkopje is under the independently organized TED events, licensed by TED. TEDxSkopje has organized more than 20 series of Salon events with a purpose of discussing global issues and important discoveries for which the country lack awareness, targeting different actors from the society (CSOs, young people, businesses, public institutions and experts from different fields).Through these events, we are sharing and challenging ideas while inspiring the growth big and important discussions while also creating a TEDxSkopje local community which is constantly expanding and engaging many people from different sectors working multidisciplinary.
Currently our journey continues with a newly approved license to organize 6 TEDxSalon events till the 31st of July 2020.
